Call/email/skype the Dept of Homeland Security and Arizona Senators John McCain and Jeff Flake about the deportation of Phoenix mother of two, Guadalupe Garcia de Rayos. Read her story here.

Potential Script: I am calling/writing to express my outrage and sadness over the deportation of Guadelupe Garcia de Rayos, a mother of two from Phoenix who has been ripped away from her children because of Donald Trump’s new Executive Order. He speaks of protecting Americans from violent criminals and drug dealers—but you’ve deported a woman whose only crime is using a false SSN so she could work for her family. Why is her deportation a priority? How does this make us safe? And is this what families in Arizona can expect now?

Guadalupe Garcia de Rayos and her family are now some of many immigrants at risk in the United States. As part of the backlash, resulting from the anti-immigrant executive order of the new administration, local law enforcement will be playing an even greater role in deportations and raids will increase. As a consequence, it will be more important than ever to put pressure on your local state representatives and city officials to protect immigrants locally. Meanwhile, it is essential to advocate on behalf of local families such as Guadalupe. Keep your eye out in your state or city back in the USA, for other individual cases you can support.

How can I support local immigrant families? Check out your state´s immigrant rights organizations.
